Part 4: Holding Space for Black Joy

Updated: May 14, 2020

The Black & African Solidarity Show: B.A.S.S. 'til Breakfast

For our first international event, we traveled to Berlin to host B.A.S.S. 'til Breakfast with our friends from Kulture Kartel, and it was an absolute BANGER.

We're incredibly grateful for our artists: Nabila Nebula, urloveisdead, Shamanie, Feven Eyob, Natasha Mutebi, Jupiter Bloom, cyberlovesinfinity and The Urban Nomad, who held it down for London in this border-defying exchange of creativity and culture. Our family grew in size and strength during this trip as we all recognized that we were building something truly special.

The Black and African Solidarity Show (B.A.S.S.) is a platform, curated for and by Black minds, which holds love, creativity and education at its core. The community is cultivated through grassroots organizing within our networks of artists and academics. B.A.S.S., as a sphere of interaction, intends to support meaningful connections and give stage for individuals of our communities to share what they have discovered along their paths.

Through the unity of our diversity, we exist as a transcultural representation of Blackness. Our mission is to uplift and provide platforms for artists across the world as we calibrate our trajectories for radically different futures.

Holding Space for Black Joy celebrates the journey of B.A.S.S. and some of the stellar individuals that constitute our community. As a collective force, we work to sustain an atmosphere in which Blackness, as our humanity, can be nurtured and appreciated.
